OSCAR organized a four day workshop on Peace-building and Nonviolence in Kunar Province.The program aimed to train a group of 20 active youths of Kunar province on ways to peacefully work for their rights. The participants were awarded certificates at the end of the program.
OSCAR conducted a one day seminar on the conditions needed for long lasting peace in Khost on February 28, 2020. The seminar was attended by 30 Individuals from civil society, youths, tribal chiefs and women. Participants of the seminar asked all the relevant parties for taking confidence-building measures to pave the way for a sustainable peace in Afghanistan.
OSCAR has a team specialized in water management, environment, youths and economics. Besides, nonviolence, the organization has been increasingly working in the stated areas. Research on socio-economic issues, on conflict related issues, youths, environment - water and economy specifically - is another area that the organization has been working on. OSCAR’s team has published their papers nationality and internally. The team has added valued information to the existing armory of scholarship on the above topics in Afghanistan. Most importantly, OSCAR tries to change the dominant paradigm of water and conflict to water and peace by conducting research.
Ahmadullah Archiwal born in Kunduz almost four decades ago, left Afghanistan to Pakistan when he was 4 years old. He finished his school, obtained a university degree and a Master’s degree in Journalism at the university of Peshawar. After that (2004) he returned back to Afghanistan and worked in Center for International Journalism (CIJ) where he taught basic skills of journalism to working journalists in Afghanistan.
An environmentalist with excellent qualifications and have well experience in technical as well as project management with multi projects of Agricultural development and environmental protection in Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and across Europe, I have obtained my post-graduation from the highest ranked University of France, Lille Catholic University with the specialization in wastewater Treatment and its reuses.
Expert in Environment and Water Resources Management. Dr. Akhtar has recently completed his PhD in water resources management from the University of Bonn, Germany. He has extensive experience in water resources management and has carried out research projects in Central Asia and Afghanistan. Dr. Akhtar has produced several scholarly articles and research papers on the water resources of Afghanistan and Central Asia. Dr. Akhtar is the board member and advisor to the water and environment section of OSCAR.
Zahid Khan Akhtar
Zahid Khan has been working as an Environmental Trainer. Zahid also specializes in social media, environmental peace building and water sanitation sector.
Nasirullah Rakhteen has been working as Civic Education and Nonviolent Civic Mobilization trainer in OSCAR for the last two years. By training, Nasir is a journalist and is part of the OSCAR’s curriculum development team.
Hamayun Khan is a researcher at OSCAR. He holds an MBA in finance and marketing from I.K. Gujrat Punjab Technical University, India. Mr. Khan has contributed a number of peer reviewed papers and commentaries to the national and internal journals and analysis magazines including South Asia journal and Eurasia Review. Khan’s main areas of interest for research and pursuit of academic career are International Finance, Business Administration, Banking, and E-Commerce. Khan manages the research section of OSCAR.
